1st January 2014 we became a limited company after fifteen years trading as a partnership. 1st January 2018 we became a limited company.

MJS Website Design – Our story
We first got into website design by accident. Clare worked as a photographic lab technician in Romsey for a small company called Blitz.
Early 1999
It was early 1999 and Clare’s worked with business owner Gary who knew I loved computers was looking at having a website. Gary knew nothing about website design and asked Clare if I knew anything.
I was really into computers and having studied and gained my Microsoft MCSA qualification, through many MCP qualifications the idea of learning something new inspired me to look into website design.
A friend of a neighbour built websites in his spare time and he invited me over to give me loads of advice. He also introduced me to the web building program Arachnophilia.
So I began to work on my first website for Garys business Blitz photographic. The site was so basic but looked great with a black background and light white font, it was a bit different from all the other black on white websites. I still have a copy of the website saved on my computer, a reminder of how far we have come.
Summer of 1999
A few months later around the summer of 1999 Clare was working for Gary Chase Photography in Botley. Gary asked Clare if I could build a website for Gary’s wedding photography company.
Whilst I was building a website for Gary one of Gary’s clients Cedric – A1 Vintage wedding cars asked if I could build him a website and thus our website design snowball began to grow.
Arachnophilia was great but I needed something better. So we went to our local PC World in Hedge End. we purchased Microsoft Frontpage and a few books and in Inbetween building websites I was working on our own.
Yellow Pages – time for some letters
Back in the day – before Google, we had the Yellow pages, a printed business directory distributed each May and delivered to every home and business across the country. We both went through the Yellow Pages writing down addresses or companies with no website details.
We then set about sending each of these companies letters. Then came the wait.
Which as it happened didn’t take too long in fact it was only a few days…
MJS Website Design Launch Day – 12th December 1999
12th December 1999 we purchased our own domain and went live with our very own website.
Having sent our loads of letters to companies listed in Yellow pages the previous week, a few days later I received a phone call from Peter Graham – director of Bi-Fold Rolfe – industrial doors who had read our letter and wanted me to have a meeting to discuss us building him a website.

We registered bifoldrolfe.co.uk on the 7th January 2000 and are very proud and privileged to say we have been looking after their website ever since.
We must be doing something right because how many website designers can say they still have a client 24 years later.
Thankfully since then, our business has grown and gained new clients.
